E3 2019: Ninja Theory Developing Brutal New Melee Brawler BLEEDING EDGE
It goes without saying that multiplayer combat games are all the rage these days, so it doesn’t exactly come as much of a surprise that Ninja Theory are working on a new battle royal brawler called Bleeding Edge. You can watch the first trailer for this crazy new title in the player above.
You may know Ninja Theory as the developer of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, DmC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Looking at their previous body of work, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the battle royale genre is not exactly in their wheelhouse, but Bleeding Edge was actually in development for several years before Ninja Theory was purchased by Microsoft. So if you were thinking of the game as being a quick and cheap cash in to more popular titles like Fortnite, think again.
With that said, Bleeding Edge does look like a lot of fun, so we’re definitely looking forward to playing it when it releases on the Xbox One at some point in the near future. We’re also really digging the anime-infused art style, which looks like a comic book come to life.
As with most battle royale combat games, each individual fighter with have their own unique play style, except this time, the primary focus will be on melee combat as opposed to shooting. And if you’ve played any of their other games, you’ll know that Ninja Theory are masters of their craft when it comes to melee combat, so we can expect the fighting mechanics to be perfect.
If you can’t wait to get your hands on Bleeding Edge, the technical alpha will launch on June 27.
