Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest Has Wordy Werewolves and Character Sheets
If there’s one thing the World of Darkness line of tabletops is known for, it’s for an interesting setting worth roleplaying in. While Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood will be launching next year and let you play as the angriest werewolf that murders things, there’s another contender for werewolf fans. Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is a visual novel that instead dives hard into the roleplaying elements.
You’ll play as Maia Boroditch, a woman who may or may not be a werewolf. Maia is looking into her family’s history, and she’s starting at Białowieża Forest. The woods are ancient, and like most ancient woods there’s both power and secrets there. Since the game is a visual novel in style, you’ll be spending time to reading about these woods, and the things that lie within them.
However, while Heart of the Forest may be a visual novel, there’s plenty more to the game. You’ll be making choices by using one of three “currencies” that you earn through your actions. Depending on how much rage, willpower, or personality you have, these can lead to entirely different situations. You’ll also have a character sheet to keep track of, where you can earn skills and use them to your advantages. Anyone looking for a little more pen and paper in their roleplaying games should find plenty to like here.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is set to launch on PC some time in 2020. You can add the game to your wishlist here.
