Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is a Vampire Murder Mystery
When you have a bunch of vampires at a party, things happen. Things including “someone shows up to the party with a shotgun and gets vampire exterminating.” Thus is the central problem that needs solving in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, which we got to learn the first details about at today’s Nacon Connect event.
Before anything else we got to see the trailer, which gave the basic premise of the game. We got to see that Boston and Hartford are unifying, in the hopes of a stronger vampire presence. However, at the party celebrating the event, a mysterious figure shows up and guns down several of the attendees. This, naturally, leads to some very upset vampires that need to figure out their next plan of action.
After this, we got to hear from Eliott Hipeau, one of the game’s quest designers. He explains that the game is a story-based RPG, and gives a quick and basic rundown of the setting. He promised that the game would take you to places that are dangerous for vampires, especially those who are physically and emotionally involved with humans. He also notes that the game will follow three different vampires, all of whom are from different clans and have different powers, and who have different views on the event. You can also make character sheets for each character, allocating skills as you see fit which can change how you approach situations. All of this sounds like it makes for an exciting vampire story.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is being developed by Big Bad Wolf Studio, who also made alt-history adventure game The Council. It’s set to release some time in 2021 for PC, PlayStations 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
