So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!
After finding out about the incredible Total Chaos from last week, I thought I’d seen it all in regards to DOOM mods. But today’s Dose takes the cake. Special thanks to ABG, who brought my attention to Solace Dreams Remake. It’s a full conversion mod for DOOM “taking inspirations from games like Silent Hill and Dark Souls” by developer Erminio Lucente. Remake is, of course, a remake of the original and already incredible Solace Dreams mod from 2018. But this new edition adds improvements in almost every regard.
Solace Dreams Remake is a game that follows a young girl named Yuna, who finds herself in an extradimensional dream realm. Trapped in a strange place that looks like her classroom, she must venture into the dreams of her peers in order to save them and hopefully escape. Each of the other students’ nightmares have their own unique themes, which will have you fighting demons in the underworld and ghoulies on an auditorium stage.
While the original was already a top tier game, this new edition takes it to the next level. With new mechanics like upgrading stats and buying equipment building off of the already difficult and tactical combat, Solace Dreams Remake is one of the best DOOM mods you can get. And apparently its still in Alpha!
