The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Has A Unicorn Backpack Collectors Edition
I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the pre-release push behind The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. Personally, I haven’t given a shit about The Walking Dead since Season 2, and only the Telltale game was able to light a fire in my heart. But I’ll be damned if Saints & Sinners isn’t giving me at least a little ember. They recently released that prequel podcast to set the stage, which really shows just how much Skydance Interactive cares about their game. I mean, it’s The Walking Dead. You don’t exactly have to introduce us to this world. But they did anyways, and that’s pretty badass.
Today, Skydance revealed The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners‘ various special editions. This came with the drop of a new trailer, which focuses on all the great ways you can kill zombies. Grab a zombie and cut its head off. Dual wield blades to cut two zombies heads off. Throw a knife into a zombie, grab the zombie, pull out the knife, then cut its head off. Smash a bottle over the head of a zombie, stab the broken bottle into the zombie, then cut its head off. We also saw some gunplay, which looks like VR gunplay. I’m not a huge fan of VR combat, but I think fumbling around to reload your gun works to ramp tension in a horror game.
Now, I don’t normally pay attention to special editions. They’re really only important to the extravagantly rich or extremely deranged. I don’t give a shit about figurines, artbooks, steel cases, or bodypillows. But every once in a while, something comes out that looks actually worth the money. And for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, that thing is a unicorn backpack.
There are three editions available for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. You got your normal edition, which also comes with “The Sheriff” revolver pre-order bonus (not listed in image). Then you got the Tourist edition, which is basically the Deluxe edition. It’s got two extra weapons, and something called “Bustomization” voodoo dolls. Then you got the real shit: The Tower Edition, ake Collectors Edition, aka Unicorn Backpack Edition. This edition comes with special physical items, including a magnetic camping lantern and a “Thumb” drive. It’s also got some fun chaff, like collectors pins and spooky postcards. But honestly, you’re here for the unicorn backpack. But let’s say you’re a grown man and you’re afraid to be seen carrying around a unicorn backpack. Worry not, the backpack is reversible and acts as a carrying case for your VR headset.
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners releases January 23rd for the Oculus Rift, Rift S, Quest, and HTC Vive. It will arrive on the PSVR in Spring 2020, followed by the Oculus Quest. If you want to pre-order any of these special editions, head on over to the link and check them out. You can also check out more of Saints & Sinners on the Steam store page.
