The Surge 2 “The Kraken” Story DLC Coming January 16th
As you can tell from my 2019 Game of the Year list, I was a big fan of The Surge 2. It improved on The Surge in almost every way… almost. The one thing The Surge 2 is lacking is a whacky themed DLC. The Surge: A Walk in the Park in retrospect feels more like a trial run for concepts in The Surge 2 than a legit expansion to The Surge. If nothing else, it let you decapitate an animatronic doughnut. Honestly, what more could you want?
Given the creativity of A Walk in the Park, I’ve been eager to see what’s in store for us with The Surge 2. DLC was announced back in October, but no details were available other than that it was coming. Well, now we get our first look at what’s in store for us. Titled “The Kraken,” the DLC will feature a new area, enemies, and a robotic narrator that I’m sure is totally fine and not at all corrupted. More info from the Official Description:
The Kraken expansion adds hours of narrative-driven content with a brand-new storyline and location, as well as a wealth of new weapons, implants and armor to discover and craft. On the outskirts of Jericho City, enter the VBS Krakow, a massive decommissioned aircraft carrier retrofitted as a retreat for the rich and famous. Battle robot pirates, deranged security systems, and an imposing new boss, each with their own unique combat mechanics. Fight hard and uncover the truth behind the desolate military vessel!
The Kraken DLC will be available on January 16th on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Don’t want to wait that long? No worries! Owners of the Season Pass will have access to The Kraken on January 14th. Season Pass holders also get access to the Public Enemy Weapon Pack and Jericho’s Legacy Gear Pack. The Season Pass is just $20, so this is probably the way to go if you’re looking to expand your The Surge playtime. Either way, I just hope that The Kraken can top the Carbon Cat fight.
