The Suicide of Rachel Foster Is A Psychological Thriller That Explores The Heaviest Of Themes
Daedalic Entertainment announced this week that their psychological thriller The Suicide of Rachel Foster will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One. Channeling the Overlook Hotel aesthetic from The Shining, the game has themes ranging from suicide to sexual abuse of a minor. The Suicide of Rachel Foster creates a story that is willing to explore these two very difficult topics, and that alone makes it a title worth keeping an eye on.
The Suicide of Rachel Foster follows Nicole, who is hoping to sell her family’s hotel. After the deaths of both parents, and the suicide of Rachel, a 16-year-old child whom Nicole’s dad had an “affair” with (statutory rape), she returns to the hotel with “the will and determination to put that chapter behind her.” But the weather takes a turn for the worse, and Nicole becomes stuck in the abandoned hotel. With the help of Irving, a FEMA agent who gets in contact with her, they must investigate “a mystery far deeper than what people in the valley thought,” whatever that means.
The game will be released on consoles on August 26th. You can find out more about The Suicide of Rachel Foster by visiting their website here. And if you can’t wait for the console release, you can buy the game on Steam by clicking here.
