The Persistence Enhanced Launching in Early June
The Persistence, a critically-acclaimed survival horror game, is coming to next-gen consoles on June 4, according to a press release. Developed by Firesprite Games and published by Perp Games, The Persistence blends rogue-lite gameplay with tense, horrific atmosphere. DreadXP previously covered its original announcement.
Players must attempt to survive aboard a doomed deep space colony starship. Set in 2521, they head deeper and deeper into the decks of The Persistence to try and repair systems and prevent the ship’s impending destruction. As a clone of Security Officer Zimri Elder, you are the last survivor. Thanks to the ship’s malfunctioning printer, however, you are not alone on The Persistence. Plenty of mutants are there to keep you company, of course. Should Zimri fail, however, his consciousness will be uploaded into a new host body. Because of the malfunctioning ship, however, its ability to reconfigure its layout has become a hindrance. Every time Zimri teleports to another floor or dies, the starship’s rooms will change. Every expedition is a new experience, with new weapons to find and enemies to confront or avoid.
The Persistence Enhanced comes to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms. Improved lighting and particle effects enhance the experience, but that isn’t the only visual upgrade. The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will include a raytracing “quality” mode. It will also come with immersive haptic feedback via DualSense technology. DXR is available for PCs with supported graphics cards.
Those who already own The Persistence on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Steam will receive a free upgrade. The Persistence Enhanced will be a standalone digital product, though Perp Games will release a PlayStation 5 boxed edition at European retail stores. Check out the trailer above.
