THE LAST OF US PART 2 Releasing February 21st, 2020
Good Lord, it feels like I’ve been waiting for The Last of Us Part 2 for five years. Ever since the credits rolled on Naughty Dog’s blockbuster hit, I’ve been dying to see just what would be next for this dark and terrifying world. We got our first peek back in 2016, but with Sony pulling out of E3 2019, there was little hope we’d see the sequel hit shelves this year. While we still won’t see the next installment of The Last of Us this year, we won’t have to wait much longer. The Last of Us Part 2 is hitting shelves on February 21st, 2020.
The release date was featured at the end of a new trailer, shown above. Part of Sony’s State of Play stream, The Last of Us 2 announcement was the clear main event. From what we see in the trailer, the level of violence has been amped up from the first game’s already high bar. The people at Naughty Dog are well known for their impressive sequels, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store in this next installment.
Also announced were the various different editions available at launch. There are four different launch bundles, ranging from the basic $60 Standard Edition to the $230 Ellie Edition. If you’re a fan of collectibles, there’s plenty to offer here. You can preorder The Last of Us 2 now from your retailer of choice. Hopefully, those backpacks aren’t made out of nylon.
