The Devolver Cinematic Universe is About to Expand Again With July 11th Press Confrence
Devolver Digital has the most bizarre press conferences ever. Yet my favorite part is that they follow a storyline, and altogether make up what is known as the Devolver Cinematic Universe. You get both game announcements and a show! Today Devolver has announced when we get the next entry to said universe and that day is July 11th at 12pm PST. You can expect more game announcements, special guests, and Devolver Digital’s Nina Struthers will probably murder someone again.
Are there any specifics on what to expect? Only a little. Devolver has promised that, at the end of the press conference, demos for the upcoming reverse horror metroidvania Carrion, and adventure dodge ’em up Disc Room will both go live. In addition, they promise demos for “…an unannounced game. Maybe another game too, who can really tell where this is all leading.” It seems like the answer is “absolutely no one,” and I’m not sure I want anyone to know where it’s going.
Last year announcements included the two aforementioned games. We also got the absolutely goofy multiplayer platformer Fall Guys, first-person light gun game Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, and the absolutely hilarious self-parody rip-off collection Devolver Bootleg.
It’s probably not too much of a surprise that a new Devolver Digital was coming, considering Nina Struthers made a brief cameo in Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event. Does this mean the PlayStation 5 reveal event is part of the Devolver cinematic universe? Obviously. We may all be part of the Devolver Digital Cinematic Universe at this point.
You can tune into the future of Devolver on July 11th 12pm PST. The show, which will be pre-recorded, will be shown on both Twitch and Steam.
