[TGA 2019] Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Announced For Upcoming Xbox Series X
I was wondering when we would get a sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game was genuinely phenomenal and sold well to boot. I’m generally not a fan of how most games depict mental illness, tokenizing it for extra virtue cred or turning it into some kind of joke. But Senua’s struggles felt real, and her facial expressions and mannerisms mirrored those I see in the people I worked with back when I was being a good person and not a game journalist. Ninja Theory billed Hellblade as an, “independent AAA game.” Meaning it had both the Ninja Theory iconic facial animations and a $30 price tag. Selling over a million copies, it was only a matter of time before we saw the nest chapter of Senau’s journey.
I’m padding for time a bit, since we don’t know much about Senau’s Saga: Hellblade II. It will be out for the Xbox Series X, which releases sometime 2020. I’m guessing we’ll hear more details when we learn that the Series X has no controller and just plugs directly into the visual centers of our brain. That way if the graphics are bad, it’s just your brain’s fault for not imagining hard enough. So check back in, and if you haven’t had a chance to check out Hellblade: Senau’s Sacrifice do yourself a favor and pick it up. It’s currently on sale on Steam for just $10.
