Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Comes Out 2022 – Demo Available Now
Honestly it is first fantasy. It is the origin of the Final Fantasy. This is a long reach for a joke, I’ll admit. I like the Final Fantasy series a lot, and a souls-like prequel is what the world really needs right now. I definitely see Garland from the original Final Fantasy in the trailer. His appearance would definitely put Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin firmly before all the fantasies in the chronology.
Team Ninja is on board to develop this first fantasy. They have the experience with souls-likes for sure based on their work with the Nioh franchise. You’ll play as Jack. Jack is assisted by his presumably good buddies Ash and Jed. Per the trailer, they have a shared goal to beat back Chaos. They consider themselves to be the warriors of light from the ancient prophecies. Doubts are brewing on the subject, but we won’t know for sure until 2022. A playable demo of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available now on PS5 for the curious.
Team Ninja is a development studio based out of Japan. They are a division of Koei Tecmo. The folks from Team Ninja – known for their excellent work on the Dead or Alive fighting game series, Ninja Gaiden, and Nioh – are no strangers to fast-paced, brutal combat. I’m hoping to see that pedigree fully explored in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. The extensive combat options in Nioh have shown that they absolutely know what they’re doing. While a Final Fantasy souls-like seems strange, it’s obviously the logical choice for a series as widespread and well-known as Final Fantasy. We will see for sure in 2022 when Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin drops. You can check out the trailer below.
