Skul: The Hero Slayer Asks Where’s Your Head At February 19th
I’m trying to remember all the games where self-decapitation is a main mechanic. There’s Dead Head Fred, NeverDead, Headlander… could you take your head off in Stubbs the Zombie? I vaguely recall being able to turn your head into an explosive bowling ball… Well, we can now add one more to the list with Skul: The Hero Slayer.
Skul: The Hero Slayer tells the tale of the eponymous Skul, who slays heroes. After the humans lead an all-out assault on the castle of the Demon King, all the goodly demons are taken hostage by the dastardly heroes of the Caerleon Empire. The only one that remains free is a tiny skeleton named Skul. Likely left behind for his diminutive stature, Skul is about to show the evil human empire that they made a grave error. Hacking and slashing your way through hordes of heroes, Skul will stop at nothing to save the king and all of demon-kind.
What gives Skul: The Hero Slayer his hero slaying prowess? Well, Skul has the ability to alter his powers by swapping out skulls. Like a decaying Kirby, Skul adopts the skills of his current noggin. Instead of just changing weapons, this skull will come with its own array of moves, attacks, combos, and personality. Moreover, skulls can be stacked two at a time to create all sorts of different combinations. You’ll really have to use your head to come up with the best combinations.
While there’s no official release date, Skul: The Hero Slayer will be playable on Steam Early Access starting February 19th. And come on, who doesn’t want to play as this adorable little murder machine? If you want frantic action and constant head changes, click the link here to add it to your wishlist.
