Modders Are Looking to Bring Eldritch Horrors to Skyrim in Apotheosis
Trying to make an entire expansion for a game is a crazy undertaking. This isn’t stopping the team behind Apotheosis, who’s looking to set their mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim inside Oblivion and the Dreamsleeve for some weird otherworldly places.
For those unaware, both Oblivion and the Dreamsleeve are different realms in The Elder Scrolls series where things can get a little trippy and weird. Apotheosis is looking to take full advantage of such a place, by bringing out weird locations in a world that the modders claim will be about 1/5th the size of Skyrim. Additionally, they’re promising full voice acting, a focus on roleplaying elements, and an original soundtrack made by multiple composers.
All of this is super ambitious, but Apotheosis has been in the making for several years. The latest trailer gives a good look at both the worlds and the combat, to the point where it almost looks closer to Dark Souls than any entry in The Elder Scrolls. The game is still rather popular among modders, and new mods are coming out all the time. Next year The Forgotten City, a full release of a Skyrim mod, will be launching.
If Apotheosis is a mod you want to keep an eye on, you can follow the development over on the mod’s moddb page.
