Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition Coming To PC This Summer
I’m a big fan of the modern trend of PC ports. Though I have all the consoles (mostly out of obligation for titles like The Last of Us), I never really got the hang of aiming with analog sticks. Give me a mouse and keyboard and I can pull off sick 360 no-scopes with the best of them. But give me a controller and I’m lucky to hit the wide ass of a cow stretched over the broad side of a barn. I actually gave our review copy of The Outer Worlds to resident funnyman Jesse Grodman to review because the thought of playing the whole thing on a controller was unbearable. So when I saw the recent news that Horizon Zero Dawn was coming to PC, I can only hope this is just another brick on the long road to the PC gaming promised land.
The news comes courtesy of a PlayStation.Blog interview with Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios. During the interview, he confirmed that the beloved PS4 exclusive would soon be coming to PC:
“Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.“
While this is big news for PC gamers like myself, fans should be cautious of getting their hopes up. In a follow-up question, Hulst had this to say about the future of PC ports:
“I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on. And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.“
So while there is a trend of new PC ports for PS4 exclusives, Sony isn’t about to make a policy of it. This is in contrast to Xbox’s Microsoft Family approach, which brings not only PC editions of all Xbox games, but also crossplay. At any rate, you can find out more about the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition by clicking the link here for the game’s Steam store page. While we still don’t have a definite price point or release date, we do know that the Complete Edition comes with The Frozen Wilds expansion and the smaller DLC packs.
