Deathloop Is The Dishonored Follow Up Nobody Saw Coming
Deathloop is a game by Arkane Studios, best known for the Dishonored series. And as you can see in the trailer, it really shows. Deathloop has pretty much the gameplay and stylized visuals as Dishonored. Leaning more towards science fiction instead of the occult, the gameplay in this trailer shows the character displaying the same stealth, gunplay, and numerous powers as Dishonored. Some of these abilities you’re already familiar with from the previous series, such as teleporting, force waves, and several other time/space/physics-defying acts.
Not that it’s a bad thing, Dishonored is an incredible game, and using the same mechanics and style to create Deathloop is a great idea. Effectively, it looks like Dishonored in the style of the late 70s. What if Corvo Attano was a character from Austin Powers? Absolute brilliance.
The story of Deathloop follows a man named Colt. He wakes up on a mysterious beach where he is the focus of an island-wide manhunt by a group of party-goers wearing fox masks. The party people are drinking, drugging, and carrying around guns with the hope of killing Colt, and eventually they do. But after being killed, he wakes up on the beach, in the style of Groundhog Day.
The only way to beat the game and break the cycle is to kill eight powerful people on the island. But in addition to the party of murderous psychos, Deathloop has another big obstacle for you. Similar to the multiplayer of Dark Souls, you may find yourself facing another killer on the island named Julianna, who is determined to keep you from breaking the cycle. Julianna may be controlled by the game’s AI or by another player (or by you, if you’re feeling mischievous and want to attack another player).
Deathloop will be a Playstation 5 exclusive, coming out sometime Q4 of 2020. For more information, you can check out their website by clicking here.
