BPM: BEATS PER MINUTE TRAILER ASKS THE AGE OLD QUESTION, WHAT IF IN GUITAR HERO THE GUITAR WAS ACTUALLY A GUN
Some genres are not easy to bring new ideas to, and probably the hardest one to innovate is the rhythm game genre. The rhythm game market is already pretty bare, even more so for titles that break the typical Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution mold. Doubly so for first-person shooters. To my knowledge, there are no FPS rhythm games at the moment. With BPM: Bullets Per Minute, that will change soon.
Taking inspiration from Quake, Doom, and Crypt of the Necrodancer, Awe Interactive’s first game seems to be in a genre of its own. Bullets Per Minute is an action roguelite game in which you play as one of five valkyries who for some reason work best while moving to the beat. With procedurally generated dungeons filled with various weapons and powerups, BPM: Bullets Per Minute seems to be a fresh new take on the rhythm game and FPS genres. And per its steam page, there’s a shotgun-rocket launcher too. What’s not to love
At the moment there is no official release date, though Awe Interactive is planning on releasing it sometime in August. You can check out the Steam page to wishlist BPM by clicking here, and you can check out the games official website here.
