AXIOM VERGE 2 Announced For Switch In 2020
Axiom Verge is one of those games that sticks with you. On the surface, it’s a retro-styled 2D action-platformer in the vein of Metroid. But once you dive in, you discover that the game is much, much more. I won’t go into too much detail, since half the fun is not knowing what to expect. I’d highly recommend you check it out, especially since Axiom Verge 2 just got announced.
If you don’t have the $20 to spare on the first Axiom Verge or just hate playing things in order, that’s fine. Axiom Verge 2 promises the game can be played, “before or after the original.” The game tells the story of Indra, a billionaire heading the Globe 3 conglomerate. Upon finding a miniature earth inside a cargo lift in Antarctica, she sets off to figure out what is going on. Axiom Verge 2 features new characters, enemies, weapons, powers, and even a new world, but is part of the same story. How that all works out? I have no idea. But I’m intrigued.
You can check out more details on the game’s newly launched official site. It’s full of all sorts of cryptic descriptions, like a save shrine that takes parts of your soul. Will this have an actual gameplay effect, or is it just colorful worldbuilding? Knowing Axiom Verge, probably both. Or neither. You never know what to expect with Thomas Happ Games.
As of now, Axiom Verge 2 is only announced for the Nintendo Switch. The website says new platforms will be announced soon, so chances are you’ll be able to play on your console of choice. No word yet on price, or a release date other than “2020.” So stay tuned and I’ll bring more details as they come!
