Autopsy Simulator Trailer Shows That Simulations Can Be Scary and Cool Too
There was a time not long ago when comical surgery games were a thing. Adult Swim’s Amateur Surgeon series, the Surgery Simulator game that every youtuber played for a week, and who can remove the images of those disturbing children’s surgery flash games from their brains [NSFW]. But they are all fairly comical and cartoonish, and the market is ripe for a new game about bodily mutilation with a scalpel instead of a gun. Thankfully a new title has come to fill that niche; Autopsy Simulator.
Autopsy Simulator looks about what you’d expect from the publisher behind Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. After all, what is an autopsy but someone trying to find out what’s wrong with the engine (albeit not with the intent to fix it, of course). The trailer shows a very detailed morgue and some very detailed bodies that need perusing. The player cuts, saws, and weighs various parts, marking them down on a surprisingly gore-free clipboard. I assume this is an accurate simulation, or so CSI Miami would have me believe.
However, there are some big differences from this title and Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. As you saw in the trailer, the character who you play as is not a well man. Trembling hands, popping pills, disturbing visions (or what we can only pray are hallucinations). Clearly Autopsy Simulator is going to have some kind of narrative, and I do not think it will be a peaceful pleasant one. And that certainly makes this interesting.
Autopsy Simulator does not yet have a release date, but you can keep up with development at the Steam page here, as well as the developer’s website here.
