Atmospheric Indie Puzzler The Turing Test Coming To Switch February 7th
Funny story, I was just talking about The Turing Test the other day. It’s one of my go-to titles when I’m trying to impress people with my expansive knowledge of video game history or win arguments. I played it at a time where my brain was more booze than fleshy bits, but even so the plot stuck with me. I won’t spoil anything, but the game goes to some genuinely dark places and asks some questions that don’t have easy answers. Think SOMA, but only 80% as depressing.
That being said, I never thought I’d be talking about the game outside of the context of flexing on nerds. The developer Bulkhead Interactive went on to work on the mediocre Battalion 1944, and as far as I know has no plans to expand on The Turing Test. While the news today isn’t any new The Turing Test content, it is cool that a whole new slew of gamers will get a chance to check out this unique story. I’ve so far deliberately avoided talking about specific details, as it’s hard to go into them without spoiling anything. You play as Ava Turing, a space engineer working on Europa. You’re tasked with investigating what happened on the abandoned moon base, which has been converted into a series of increasingly difficult puzzles. The game actually has a reasonable explanation as to what’s happening, why the base is now all puzzles, and what the grander threat is. But I’ll leave discovering that up to you.
Switch gamers will be able to get their hands on The Turing Test on February 7th for $20. If you missed it before, you should definitely check it out. You can also find the game on the Xbox One, PS4, and Steam.
