Tormented Souls Is The Modern Silent Hill Style Horror We’ve Been Waiting For
Nowadays, when we hear of a new survival horror game based on the classics, generally it’s coming from an indie developer. Rarely does it appear so well polished as Tormented Souls. Created by studio Dual Effect, Tormented Souls is certainly in the style of the old school genre. From the movement in the narrow corridors to the setting itself (a mansion turned hospital is almost the same as a museum turned police station, right?), this is a throwback we’ve been waiting for.
Tormented Souls is a game following Caroline Walker. While searching for some missing children, Caroline suddenly wakes up in a bathtub full of blood with a tube down her throat. Trapped in a mansion full of medical equipment and what appear to be medical experiments, she must survive the horrors within while completing her investigation.
The aesthetic of Tormented Souls will be instantly familiar to any fans of classic PS1 era horror. But in addition to the third-person survival horror experience you know and love, Tormented Souls sports some modern updates as well. As the Steam page states:
Tormented Souls deliberately sets out to draw inspiration from classic survival horror. From Resident Evil and Silent Hill, to Alone in the Dark – Tormented Souls is a modern take on the fixed-perspective adventure, offering a modernized control scheme and a more dynamic camera while retaining everything that made those games so beloved by fans.
Tormented Souls will be arriving sometime in 2021. You can wishlist the game on Steam by clicking here.
