For today’s daily dose, we have a late submission for the Two Minute Horror Jam. The Grambsy Summoning is a brief and experimental horror game by develo[re Leafthief from itch.io. Described as more of a “vignette” than a conventional game, this unusual style is surprisingly effective.
The Gramsby Summoning takes place in a small village—Gramsby—in the middle of the night. A haunting intro states that “the whispering in the hills has returned tonight. In Gramsby, they barred their doors and hid their children away.” You play as a mother, anxiously waiting for her daughter to return home.
But something else is outside, and if it sees you, it will also want to come home. The Gramsby Summoning takes place entirely within a doorway. All you can do is poke your head outside to monitor the situation, and duck back inside to hide from whatever lurks the streets. It takes a minute to get into the flow of the “gameplay,” but once you do youll see how unique of a horror experience this is.
The Gramsby Summoning was for the Two Minute Horror jam, and as such, can be beat in just a few minutes. To try it for yourself, click the link here.
