In Rogue Lords the Devil Goes Down To a Place Like Georgia Looking for a Soul to Steal
The Devil tends to lose. Most of the time if anything involves the Devil, he gets his butt kicked and is sent back to Hell, or somewhere related. That’s how Rogue Lords starts: the Devil has lost the war against humanity and has been hanging out in Hell trying to get his power back. Well, Hell’s supply of souls is running dry, so it’s time to make another go of it. The Devil gathers his friends and makes a new attempt on humanity.
So that’s the basic concept, but the Devil has plenty of friends and plenty of ways to fight. You’ll gather together some famous killers and monsters, such as Dracula, Baron Samedi, Bloody Mary, or the Headless Horseman, and battle with hunters in turn-based combat. Each of the characters has special abilities that will assist them in combat. One example shown is Bloody Mary, who can call forth a mirror on any target, and cause her attacks to hit two different enemies, or double up on the same enemy. Also, since you’re the Devil, you can cheat and do things like pause the game and rearrange your party in the middle of a fight, even in the middle of an attack so you don’t have to worry about the character getting targeted.
Your goal in all of this? Kill Van Helsing, the leader of the demon hunters who defeated the Devil so many years ago. It doesn’t help that there’s also a mysterious new organization named Sanctua Lumen that appears to know about the Devil’s plans and is more than willing to stop him. So you’ll need to fight your way through. Of course, since the game is a roguelike, you don’t want to die as that means having to start over from the beginning.
Rogue Lords is launching in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You can add the game to your wishlist here.
