Outriders is a New Sci-Fi Shooter From The People That Brought Us Bulletstorm and Painkiller
I know that shooters now are supposed to be all about taking cover and patriotically raining down billion dollars of ordnance on impoverished freedom fighters, but I remember when shooters used to be fun. Serious Sam, Doom, Duke Nukem, hell even Half-Life. It was an era when you were free to strafe in circles and the only reason you’d slow down is because you’re dead. It’s why I have a mild crush on the entire People Can Fly staff (call me) for bringing us Bulletstorm and Painkiller. Is their newest title Outriders going to be another epic installment of the classic shooter format? Or is it going to be more cover-based like their more recent Gears of War: Judgement. No idea. But the trailer above shows us guns made of energy and people disintegrating. So, sign me the fuck up.
What we do know about Outriders comes courtesy of the Official Press Release:
OUTRIDERS is an RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe. As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across a hostile planet. With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, you’ll leave behind the slums and shanty towns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and deserts in pursuit of a mysterious signal. Combining intense gunplay with violent powers, along with an arsenal of increasingly twisted weaponry and gear-sets, OUTRIDERS offers countless hours of gameplay from one of the finest shooter studios in the industry.
So magic, guns, and monsters. Cool, I’m in. If you’re hungry for more Outriders info, then good news. People Can Fly and publishers Square Enix are hosting a gameplay reveal live stream this Thursday, February 13th at 12:00 pm PST. You’ll definitely want to check it out on the Square Enix Twitch channel, which you can find by clicking here.
As a fun side note, this is also announced to be a PS5/Xbox Series X game. So this might be your first chance to see the new tech in action. Keep in mind, Outriders will also launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Expect Outriders to hit store shelves holiday 2020.

“I know that shooters now are supposed to be all about taking cover and patriotically raining down billion dollars of ordnance on impoverished freedom fighters, ”
Oh look, someones ignorance and leftist bias is showing.
It’s telling that you make that comment in the same breath as pointing out Bulletstorm (basically a crime drama) and Painkiller (which take place in hell).
Stay in your lane if you don’t know what you’re talking about.
