Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Receives May Release Date
If you’ve been looking to play a real Shin Megami Tensei game, you’re in luck. Atlus has announced the release date of remastered cult classic Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne. Players can start playing on May 25, 2021. Those who preorder, however, can play four days early, on May 21.
Known for its punishing difficulty, Nocturne tells the story of a young man living in Tokyo. As is normal in the Shin Megami Tensei universe, the world quickly ends and becomes populated by demonkind. Thanks to the machinations of a mysterious benefactor, the young man transforms into the creature known as Demi-fiend. There are many different routes for the player to take, which affects things from dialogue to the identity several major bosses. There are the omnipresent Law and Chaos routes, but there are many other factors to consider when choosing a party for the Demi-fiend to throw his considerable support behind.
In addition to the multiple endings, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne also features the option to negotiate with your foes. After all, why fight when recruiting a powerful demon to your side is a much easier solution? Gather these beings to your side, and when they stop being useful, just fuse them together! Of course, winning them over can often prove far easier said than done. You can’t get something for nothing, after all.
The HD remaster will include Dante (from the Devil May Cry series) in the Maniax Pack. Dante appeared in some copies of the original as a recurring boss and recruitable unique ally. Fans of Raidou Kuzunoha (of the SMT: Devil Summoner series) filled a similar role in other copies. Players can also pick him up in the Chronicle Pack, which will be free DLC for Steam versions of the game.
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne will be available on the Sony PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PCs (via Steam). Find out more information at the official website.
