Dying: 1983 Releasing as PS5 Timed Exclusive
DYING: 1983 will come to the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive, according to NEKCROM Entertainment and 2P Games. Both the PlayStation 4 and Steam versions will receive ports at later dates. The upcoming title, slated for a 2022 release, is the second game in the DYING series.
DYING: 1983 continues the trends seen in the first game, with a first-person perspective and emphasis on puzzles and exploration. In DYING: 1983, players will take on the role of a less-than-upstanding doctor. An organization contacts them, urging them to take part in a clandestine investigation. But, upon reaching the research facility where the meeting was to take place, the doctor realizes that something significantly wrong is occurring on the premises.
Thanks to cutting-edge visual technology, DYING: 1983 features incredible visuals courtesy of ray-traced reflections, shadows, and NVIDIA DLSS. A Japanese dub full of professional actors enhances the experience. Veteran anime and video game voice actors Miyuki Sawashiro (Fatal Frame IV, Catherine, Danganronpa) and Shunsuke Takeuchi (NEO: TWEWY, Genshin Impact, also Danganronpa) will provide voice-over work for the game. DYING: 1983 also boasts “thousands of interconnected puzzles” for players to think through and solve.
A trailer at Gamescom last week showed off some of what you can expect. More details will assuredly be revealed as we move closer to 2022. In the meantime, one can Wishlist it on Steam to keep an eye on the latest news.
Chinese developer NEKCOM Entertainment released their first game, DYING: Reborn, in 2017. Over 300,000 copies sold worldwide on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One consoles. In addition to the second DYING game, NEKCOM Entertainment is simultaneously working on another title.
2P Games, also founded in China, boasts over a decade of experience in games in Asian markets. They have contributed to the release of several indie titles, such as Nigate Tale, Shadowplay: Metropolis Foe, Seed Hunter, and Zengeon.
