Skul: The Hero Slayer on Consoles Next Week
Skul: The Hero Slayer is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch consoles next week, according to publisher NEOWIZ and developer SouthPAW Games. It will release on October 21.
Along with the console launch, a new update will come to all versions of the game. The update includes a new Hard Mode, new enemies to vanquish, and much more! A full list of changes are in the official dev blog. The Skul: The Hero Slayer update will come in the future, but has no official release date save sometime in the next few weeks.
“Skul’s journey to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation has been a long one – but we’re thrilled the little guy is finally making his debut during the spookiest time of the year. We never imagined the success Skul would see on Steam in the past year, and we know the future is bright for everyone’s favorite bony little anti-hero on consoles.”

This 2D action platformer has roguelike features, too. Maps change, so no two routes are ever quite the same. Skul, the protagonist, gets new abilities depending on the skull he wears. He can wear up to two at a time, each with their own range, speed, and power.
While the human race assailing the Demon King’s castle is hardly a recent development, things are different this time. The Adventurers have joined with the Imperial Army and Hero of Caerleon to purge the Demons for good. The stronghold, destroyed in the assault, now belongs to them. All of the demons, save a lowly skeleton named Skul, are now prisoners. Skul must turn the tide on the invaders and rescue the others.
SouthPAW Games is a group of 9 core members who began as classmates in college. They began work on Skul: The Hero Slayer in 2017 as part of a development club. The game received support via Korean crowdfunding site Tumblbug, and earned the Grand Prize for Production at GIGDC 2019.
