Valfaris: Mecha Therion Coming to PC, Consoles
Valfaris: Mecha Therion will come to PCs and various consoles late next year, according to developer Steel Mantis and publisher Big Sugar. It will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The side-scroller includes a low-poly art style that brings classics of the past to mind.
The shmup (shoot-em-up) is the sequel to Valfaris. Metacritic ranked Valfaris as the #16 Best PC Game of 2019. Therion returns as a protagonist in the sequel, now piloting a metal beast of a mecha as he chases down Lord Vroll. Now that he’s escaped Valfaris, Therion’s hunt for Lord Vroll continues across the galaxy. Therion will travel to distant planets under strange suns and through weird environments.
Mecha Therion can install all sorts of weaponry, including the Bringer of Mayhem, the Skysplitter, and Therion’s old standby, Hellwraith. By mastering the various weapons, Therion will tear through hordes of hostile aliens on eerie, uncanny worlds. Customize Mecha Therion to your liking, letting you fight them your way. Earn Blood Metal on your journey to further improve your weapons and various addons.
Big Sugar is a newer publishing studio. They’ve supported the publication of several titles, including Berserk Boy, Sam & Max This Time It’s Virtual! and, naturally Valfaris: Mecha Therion.
Steel Mantis is a small studio based in Texas. The team consists of Andrew Gilmour, an artist, and Thomas Jenns, a designer. Their first title was Slain: Back from Hell, a gothic horror-based metal platformer released in 2016. Valfaris released in 2019.
