Hello, you glorious gluttons for all things indie horror! Are you just starving for the newest of the new, the most unknownest of the unknown? If so, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the Ultra-Indie Daily Dose! In this series, we’re going to pick a new game every day from an indie horror creator you’ve probably never heard of. No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!
Welcome back once again for some more Ultra-Indie horror! Today we have Nocturnal Visit by developer MoiDev. This short-form PSX-style game is their first project, and they are off to a great start. Sitting squarely at the top of the itch.io popular horror games list, Nocturnal Visit is already showing MoiDev’s prowess in creating a terrifying experience.
Nocturnal Visit is the story of a horror blogger. The content creator you play as has decided to check out an abandoned house in the middle of the woods, and discover whether or not the rumors of its terrible past are substantiated. I’ll let you guess how it goes, or better yet, you’ll experience it for yourself.
The atmosphere in Nocturnal Visit is top-notch, to say the least. Moi’s expert use of sight and sound creates an atmosphere of pure dread, even when nothing has actually happened yet. Every creak and clunk will keep you on edge for the duration of this 10-minute nightmare.
